The Undoing: Forgiveness (excerpt)
Forgiveness is the screwdriver we use to pry open our hearts.
For nearly twenty years I have used knitting as a metaphor to create complex forms to discuss complex issues.  My work transforms knitting, a traditional woman’s craft, into a metaphor that expands the feminist tenants of liberation, diversity & justice.

"The Undoing: Forgiveness"
As elusive as Forgiveness can be, "The Undoing: Forgiveness" allows an audio snapshot of this process. Taking a half hour to find my own places of healing through the weaving (being wronged) and release (forgiveness/prayer) both visually and spoken, was gratifying and cathartic. The following day I called and connected with a family member in a clearer and more relaxed way. Thank you, Sharon Kagan, for this gift. - Jane

It's a reminder of how cruel people can be, while simultaneously reminding us that we can overcome that cruelty. - Michael

Sharon Kagan's work on the subject of Forgiveness is bold, profound and moving. There was a serene beauty to the film paired with the authentic voices. It brought me to tears and connected me to the humanity in myself and others. - Randy

Riveting and mesmerizing, this piece is a potent reminder of the universality of our stories and the power of forgiveness. - Leslie

The stories told were so engaging, and so moving, that by the time the artist spoke, giving her wish for peace and forgiveness, I too felt as if I needed to hear it. The knitting was mesmerizing in a meditative way, lending power to the already powerful words. I am so thankful I was able to see this! My soul needed it. - Jenni
