"The Undoing: Forgiveness" Premiere

Special Edition Newsletter Video Premiere
The Undoing: Forgiveness a video performance

I recently received the WORD Artist Grant: The Bruce Geller Memorial Prize from the American Jewish University to produce “The Undoing: Forgiveness,” a community video project presenting intimate stories of wrongdoing contrasted by the benefits of forgiving.
My work transforms knitting, a traditional woman’s craft, into a metaphor about individuals and communities who are intrinsically inter-dependent on one another.

The Undoing: Forgiveness video performance records my hands knitting and unraveling sticky waxed hemp twine accompanied by audio stories revealing a wrong experienced and the process of forgiving the wrongs committed while I recite the Buddhist Metta meditation, “May you be happy, may you be well, may you be safe, may you be peaceful and at ease.”

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Receiving the Word Grant from the AJU Institute for Jewish Creativity to produce “The Undoing: Forgiveness” has truly expanded my creative practice.

My work has returned to my original love of performance and video.  The ideas are flowing so keep an eye out for upcoming projects!

I sincerely hope you’ll join me for the Zoom Premiere Reception on August 8th.

Best,
Sharon
